3 Paper Buildings (3PB) is delighted to announce that leading barrister and silk Rachel Best KCRachel Best KCCall: 2006Silk: 2024 (2006 call) has joined chambers as an associate member. Rachel specialises in employment and discrimination disputes, judicial reviews, inquests and personal injury cases. She was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2006, the Bar of Ireland in 2021 and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2022. She was promoted to Silk in 2024.

Rachel Best KCRachel Best KCCall: 2006Silk: 2024 is a popular choice for high profile and landmark disputes, often involving multiple parties and public bodies, government departments and large businesses. She provides practical advice on resolving disputes to a wide range of clients. This year Rachel produced a major new report for the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, namely "Fact-finding investigation on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service"; and last month she represented Belfast woman Shona Boyle, an employee of Caterpillar NI, who was awarded over £305,000 compensation in what is believed to be the highest individual equal pay claim in Northern Ireland’s history. The landmark ruling is being seen as underlining the importance of gender pay equality and sets a precedent for future claims. Rachel is also known for her well-received training in the legal sector and her collaborative and accessible approach to law.

Rachel commented, “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the great team at 3PB and to be strengthening three teams in one move - employment, public law and personal injury - all of which have excellent reputations.”

Karen Moss, who leads 3PB's Employment and Discrimination Group, said: “I am delighted that Rachel has chosen to join us at 3PB. Rachel has a stellar reputation as a barrister with strong technical ability, real enthusiasm for serving her clients and a gift for advocacy - as demonstrated by the many high-profile cases in which she has appeared. We very much look forward to having her as a member of Chambers.”

Rachel Best KC's recruitment demonstrates 3PB's commitment to strengthening further its civil expertise and to ensuring that it offers counsel of the highest quality and capability across the full range of its practice areas. It follows the recruitment of Ben Amunwa in March this year - who became 3PB's 250th barrister and also joined its employment and public law teams.
