The lectures delivered were on a topic of how the law, both as it currently stands and in reform proposals contained in the Renters Rights Bill tries to balance the competing interests between landlords and tenants, in claims for possession of privately rented residential property, so to do justice between those competing interests.

Oliver is an Honorary Associate Professor at Leicester who was appointed in recognition of his contribution to life at Leicester Law School, including lecturing, advocacy workshops, employability events and initiatives to improve equality and diversity in the legal profession.
