Marriage & Estate Inheritance Case Briefing
3PB's chancery barrister Oliver Ingham will be presenting a briefing on the recent case Kaur v Estate of Karnail Singh & Ors on Wednesday 29 March at 5pm.
The briefing will be held over Zoom.
Peel J set down new commentary on the summary/abbreviated disposal of Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, allowing this Claim to be dealt with in under 3 months.
In the dispute, Mrs Kaur and her four daughters had been excluded from her husband’s will because he wished to leave his entire estate to his two sons, with his inheritance passing solely down the male line. Oliver successfully acted for the claimant widow after the initial exclusion from her husband’s will, following a marriage of 66 years, with the judgment securing close to £1m for the wife.
As part of the session, Oliver will be giving an overview of the case and offering an insight into how the case can assist those looking for urgent or speedy relief under the Inheritance Act 1975.
