Our Speakers

Chair: Mark Hood is an associate solicitor and leads Goughs’ armed forces sector. He completed a twenty-year army career in the Royal Logistic Corps as an officer gaining particular experience in delivering training, recruiting officers, IT project management, advising governments, operations and planning, and was responsible for the management of the British Forces Post Office network across Germany. Changing tack to pursue a career in the law, many of the skills learned in the Army have proved directly transferable to this role.  Mark specialises in military pensions on divorce.

Presenters and panellists:

Mark Elliot is a family law specialist at 3PB with particular experience in matrimonial finance and private children disputes. Mark is able to accept instructions from members of the public under the Direct Access scheme. Before being called to the Bar, Mark served as an Army Officer and an Operations Officer with the United Nations. These roles provided valuable experience in negotiating and mediating in high-profile, high-pressure environments.

Wendy Bandeira is Deputy Head of Pensions at the Forces Pension Society. She provides guidance on the Armed Forces Pension Schemes to members. Wendy regularly delivers presentations on some of the more complex issues surrounding armed forces pensions. Previously Wendy was a personal financial adviser with a leading financial provider.

David Lockett is a specialist with over 35 years’ pensions experience and 25 years’ experience in the field of Pensions on Divorce, specialising in Forces pensions. David is a recognised expert in the pension rights in divorce settlements. David has spoken throughout the UK on this subject at conferences attended by solicitors, barristers, IFAs and district judges; both organised by Actuaries for Lawyers, and by external providers such as Jordans and by leading chambers. David has experience of appearing in Court as an Expert Witness although he tries to ensure reports are clear enough that they do not require him to go to Court.
