Danielle Gotts St. Clair judges International Women’s Day competition at Nottingham Law School
10th March 2025

Friday 7 March saw 3PB sponsor the annual Mooting Competition organised by Nottingham Law School's Mooters' Guild to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The moot saw students debate whether public nuisance was committed during a women’s rights protest, and whether a defence was available in respect of an offence of criminal damage. The moot problem was written by the Guild’s President Harry Toy and their Vice-President Charlotte Paxford.
3PB’s civil and regulatory barrister, Danielle Gotts St. Clair, served as a judge for this year’s moot, having founded the competition in 2019 when she was a NLS student.
Students Rumbidzai Mavera and Evie Law appeared for the Appellant, with Beatrice Munro and Charlotte Gallagher for the Respondent. It was an engaging moot that raised several important issues, and each participant performed fantastically, bringing skilled submissions to the court.
The competition aims to empower young female advocates in celebration of International Women’s Day and provided an excellent opportunity to practice their oral advocacy and legal research skills.
A massive well done to Beatrice Munro who was the winner of NLS’ 2025 International Women’s Day moot. Beatrice received a series of book prizes from Danielle, all penned by well-known women advocates such as Helena Kenedy KC, Alexandra Wilson, Baroness Hale of Richmond and 3PB’s Sarah Langford. She also received a £200 cash prize.
