Criminal law and child cruelty QC joins 3PB

3PB’s Head of Chambers David Berkley QC is delighted to announce that criminal law barrister and child cruelty Silk, Ms Jo Martin QC, has joined 3PB as a door tenant.
Jo qualified as a solicitor in 1996 before being called to the Bar in 2005 and becoming a QC last year. Prior to moving to Plymouth, Devon she worked for both the Crown Prosecution Service and the Serious Fraud Office in London and then became a Higher Court advocate.
Jo has developed a heavyweight practice both prosecuting and defending in all areas of criminal law, particularly large and complex fraud, historic child abuse and rape and child cruelty cases, particularly those involving significant medical issues and linked family proceedings. She also is an expert in health and safety, environmental disputes and trading standards work.
Jo is a founder member of the Western Circuit Women's Forum and a mentor of junior women barristers; is a trainer on the Western Circuit pupillage course and has also trained police officers, CPS and local authorities on confiscation and money laundering. She also undertakes pro bono work on behalf of legal charity, Advocate.
