Property & Housing
His successful practice covers the full spectrum of Property & Housing related disputes, with particular expertise in Landlord and Tenant claims in the Private Residential, Social Housing and Agricultural sectors. He is also instructed in connection with Commercial Leases, Forfeiture and Relief.
Oliver has significant experience representing Local Authorities and Housing Associations in complex actions for Possession and the full suite of Anti-Social Behaviour remedies, in particular where Public Law and Equality Act arguments are raised.
Agricultural & Equine Law
Oliver is one of the leading Equine Law barristers on the Midland Circuit, being frequently instructed on behalf of horse riders, owners and businesses providing services to the equestrian world.
He is instructed in Agricultural matters where there are contractual disputes and property claims, in particular in connection with agricultural tenancies.
Commercial Litigation
Oliver is experienced in disputes arising from both business to business and consumer contracts. He is instructed in cases concerning the sale of goods, machinery, services, and other contractual claims including misrepresentation and specific performance.
Beyond Practice
Oliver is involved in a number of initiatives to improve equality, diversity and access at the Bar. He sits on the Midland Circuit Social Mobility Committee and regularly speaks on the Sutton Trust's Pathways to Law programme.
Oliver mentors through Lincoln’s Inn and the Future Bar Programme at DeMontfort Law School. He also established the Jeffers-Nunn Award at Leicester Law School, which provides financial support and mentoring in the form of a scholarship to aspiring Barristers from backgrounds which are underrepresented in the profession.
He is a qualified Advocacy Trainer for both Lincoln’s Inn and the Midland Circuit.
Oliver is often instructed to deliver training to both professional and lay clients in advocacy and substantive law.
Appointed as a Deputy District Judge on the Midland Circuit in September 2021, Oliver was also made an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Leicester in 2022, where he lectured both Public and Contract Law.

Having lectured in Public Law at the University of Leicester, Oliver offers significant experience in the Housing Law sector and is often brought in to advise and act in more complex possession proceedings which may include novel grounds for possession, succession, injunctive relief, Public Law defences and arguments raised under the Equality Act 2010.
