Rebecca McKnight successful in the Court of Appeal
3PB crime barrister Rebecca McKnight has been successful in appealing a sentence, arguing that the sentence imposed in the Crown Court was excessive. The Defendant received a four-year period of imprisonment. Rebecca argued that despite the aggravating features this was excessive, going outside the range in the relevant sentencing guidelines, without sufficient justification for doing so. Sam Shurey represents the RFU in appeal proceedings
3PB sports law barrister Sam Shurey advised and represented the RFU in an appeal arising from the abandonment of a recent Championship Rugby fixture between Chinnor RFC and Doncaster Knights RFC after floodlight failure. The match was stopped in the 68th minute with Chinnor leading 18-13. The RFU Disputes Committee ordered that the score at the time of the abandonment was to stand as the final score.
