3PB welcomes three new pupil barristers to its 270-strong barrister ranks
1st April 2025

The three new pupil barristers starting their twelve-month pupillages with 3PB in April 2025, pictured left to right, are: Liam O'Shaughnessy, who worked as a senior HR professional for over 25 years, will be focusing on employment and discrimination; former Court of Appeal judicial assistant, journalist and sinophile Simon Haywood who will be focusing on civil litigation particularly commercial, property and costs; and former Burges Salmon paralegal and employment litigator at Croner and Direct Line Group, Eaindra Cho, who will also be focusing on employment and discrimination.
These pupils will receive 3PB's annual award and guaranteed earnings of £40,000 (becoming £60,000 in October 2025); and this new cohort will be joined by another pupil barrister in October. The full-service national chambers with six UK offices and twelve specialist practice areas recruits four pupil barristers every year - and is currently interviewing for its 2026 intake.
Simon Astill, 3PB’s Chief Executive, commented that: “I am so pleased to see three outstanding new pupil barristers joining 3PB. Liam, Simon and Eaindra will enjoy the friendly collegiate environment we have for pupils, staff and members alike here, and get a level of on-the-job and advocacy training that is second to none at the Bar. I’m really looking forward to seeing them prosper here.”
