Holly Fagan’s client acquitted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent
26th February 2025

3PB Barristers’ (3 Paper Buildings) specialist criminal law barrister, Holly Fagan, has successfully secured an acquittal for her client, accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Holly’s client, K, became involved in a fight in the street after a confrontation started between males she was with. It was alleged that K participated in the fight by bottling the Complainant and causing him grievous bodily harm. The Prosecution put their case in multiple ways. They said that K caused the injury with intent, in the alternative she caused the injury without intent, and a further alternative was that she participated in a joint attack in which she knew and intended the Complainant would be caused such an injury.
The case required rigorous and targeted cross-examination of the Complainant and four eye-witnesses, as well as forensic analysis of the CCTV.
After a 4-day trial at Southampton Crown Court, Holly’s client was unanimously acquitted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, causing grievous bodily harm without intent and, by extension, she was exonerated of participating in a joint attack.
Holly was instructed by Clive Merrett of Wannops Solicitors.
