Charlotte Hadfield and Alice de Coverley publish second edition of ‘A Practical Guide to the Law in Relation to School Exclusions’
8th January 2025
3PB Barristers’ (3 Paper Buildings) specialist education law barristers Charlotte Hadfield (Head of 3PB’s education law group) and Alice de Coverley have published a second edition of their successful book ‘A Practical Guide to the Law in Relation to School Exclusions’.
The law relating to school exclusions is complex, often mixing public and regulatory law, anti-discrimination and human rights, statutory guidance and, when relating to independent schools, principles of commercial contract and tort. The book, which offers practical guidance to the law, will serve as a useful source of reference for pupils and parents/carers, as well as head teachers, governing school boards, local authorities and practitioners.
This second edition, updated four years after the publication of the first, sets out the law as it stands in October 2024. Charlotte and Alice explore recent Upper Tribunal judgments on disability discrimination in schools, as well as the wider regulatory and public law framework.
The book, which is priced at £39.99, can be purchased from Law Brief Publishing here - to receive 10% off your order, please use discount code Q4JPT. The book is also available for purchase from Amazon and Waterstones.
Both Charlotte and Alice will be speaking at the upcoming 3PB Education Law Conference, taking place in London on 6 February 2025. To learn more about the conference programme and purchase your tickets, please click here.
