Celebrating 3PB role models on International Men’s Day 2022

International Men’s Day, celebrated worldwide since 1999, focuses on six key pillars, including honouring positive male role models in all walks of life, celebrating men’s contributions to family and community, as well as addressing the need to focus on men’s mental and physical wellbeing.
While there are far too many achievements to note, International Men’s Day 2022 (19 November) gives us the chance to celebrate just some of the accomplishments of the men at 3PB over the last 12 months.
Appointments
A host of 3PB’s men have been appointed to the bench over the last year. In March, William Hansen was authorised to sit as a High Court Judge in the Chancery Division alongside his public law, property law and commercial litigation practice.
In the last six months, Darren Walsh and Adam Feest KC have both been appointed as Circuit Judges, while Luke Ashby has been appointed as a District Judge on the Western Circuit.
3PB’s Richard Wheeler, personal injury, clinical negligence, public and coronial law barrister, has been appointed a member of the Attorney General’s London A Panel (Treasury Counsel), which took effect from September this year.
Craig Ludlow, Head of 3PB’s Employment and Discrimination group, was appointed to the editorial board of the Employment Lawyers Association’s (ELA) Briefing magazine.
Broadening Horizons
This year, some of our barristers broadened their horizons and expanded their practice beyond the UK. In March of this year, Philip Bambigiotti, who already has an established practice both in the UK and Australia, was appointed to the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. In October, Paul Newman was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in addition to his practice in England and Wales.
Awards
Over the last year, 3PB saw a host of nominations and accolades. Following the landmark judgement for his client Mrs Lesley Brazel in the Supreme Court (Harpur Trust v Brazel [2022] UKSC 21), 3BP’s specialist public law and employment barrister Mathew Gullick KC was named “Lawyer of the Week” by The Times newspaper in July of this year.
Specialist construction barrister Peter Collie received the Distinguished Service Award from the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and family law barrister Adeo Fraser was shortlisted for “Barrister of the Year” at the 2022 Birmingham Law Society’s Legal Awards.
Celebrating Our Staff
One pillar of International Men’s Day is service to the community, and 3PB’s staff certainly fits that bill. Stuart Pringle has been with 3PB for 35 years and Lee Giles for 31 years. Robert Leonard has been with the set for 27 years, while Tox Cox will celebrate his 20th anniversary early next year. Within the last year or so seeing several big anniversaries amongst the clerking team. Russell Porter celebrated 30 years at 3PB, and David Snook has now been with the set for 25 years. Stephen Evers and Mark Heath celebrated their 20th year here, while Patrick Steptoe crossed the decade mark.
Fatherhood
The last 12 months also saw a number of steps into fatherhood from the men that call 3PB their professional home. Tom Webb welcomed a little girl last November and Adeo Fraser’s son was born in August. Tom Cox and Seb Oram both welcomed their second sons in September and October respectively.
Wellbeing
Within the 3PB community, our men and women have found ways to focus on wellbeing through an established programme of social groups. These include the national chambers 3PB band, which has members from all six locations, as well as more centre-specific social groups.

3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings) is delighted to announce that family barrister Hannah Bush will officially be appointed as a District Judge from next Monday 18th November 2024. District Judge Bush will sit on the Midlands Circuit and be based at the Birmingham Combined Court Centre. 3PB Barristers criminal barrister Berenice Mulvanny represented one of two Chichester community rangers who were charged with assault and false imprisonment of a 15 year old boy in Superdrug on 22nd March 2023.
