Safeguarding, CRB, DBS disclosure issues
3PB’s specialist barristers are experts in safeguarding, bullying and abuse cases arising in the education context.
Members are experienced in both private and public law claims involving safeguarding issues in schools and colleges, youth and sports clubs, religious organisations/settings and in higher education. Our team have helped victims and survivors who are dealing with sexual, physical and emotional abuse and who were abused at state, private, religious, special, and residential schools. Our work includes both ‘historic’ and more recent abuse. Practitioners often work with young people who are at risk of, or victims of, sexual or criminal exploitation.
Our barristers also act in high profile public inquiries relating to sexual abuse, with several of our team involved in the ongoing Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, and related litigation.
Members of 3PB act for both claimants and defendants in safeguarding, bullying and abuse claims. Members routinely act for victims and survivors, and their families, as well as for schools and local authorities in claims involving harm caused to children and young people in the education context.
Members also deal with criminal record checks, data protection matters, and disclosure issues involving education providers.
These issues are part of a regular provision of training and workshops that 3PB offer to victims and survivors, local authorities and schools, and universities. We provide regular updates about developments in safeguarding and education law. If you wish to instruct any of our members or attend our training then please email Gemma Faulkner at [email protected] or Tom Cox at [email protected]
