Criminal law update - 13 July
Due to several significant recent changes and developments in Criminal law, 3PB Barristers is providing a free seminar on Wednesday 13th July 2022 in Winchester at 17:00 to 18:30.
Topics being covered include:
- Sentencing updates (Harper's Law, increase in maximum sentences for child cruelty offences/causing death by dangerous/careless driving, whole life orders for premeditated murder of a child, powers to halt the automatic early release of dangerous offenders, ending halfway release for sentences between 4 and 7 years, change to law on some minimum sentences, extension of curfew lengths.)
- New offences (non-fatal strangulation, breastfeeding voyeurism, causing serious injury by careless driving.)
- Procedural updates (extension of time limit for domestic related summary only offences from six months to 2 years from report to police, new rules for the use of CVP to maximise the technology, s28 pre-recorded cross-examination for adults, deaf people sitting on juries with a BSL.)
