3PB guest speakers at Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) Midlands lecture

Three of 3PB's team of intellectual property barristers, including team group head Victoria Jones, will be sharing practical tips on pleadings at the UKIPO and discussing recent case law at CITMA's first Midlands lecture of the year, held at 3PB’s offices in Birmingham on 27 February. Registration is at 5pm with the talks lasting an hour from 530pm until 630pm, and will be followed by a free drinks reception.
The lectures will be see Victoria Jones share her top practical tips considerations for pleadings and evidence at the UKIPO with colleague Faizul Azman dissecting several of the key legal cases from 2023, discussing their relevance to intellectual property (IP) owners and their advisers; whilst Mark Wilden will be highlighting some of the many alternative weird and wonderful trade mark attempts from 2023. From smells and faces to jingles and much more!!
Victoria Jones is head of 3PB's IP team and an experienced Intellectual Property specialist. She is particularly well-known for her expertise in trade mark and passing off matters in relation to which she has acted for many well-known brands as well as many small and medium size enterprises. Victoria regularly appears before the Chancery Division of the High Court, the IPEC, the UKIPO and the Appointed Person.
Faizul Azman is a commercial litigation and intellectual property barrister with an unconventional background for counsel of having served in the British Army and UK Civil Service prior to joining 3PB. During his career as a civil servant, Faizul worked in several government departments including the Home Office and UK Intellectual Property Office. Faizul has been instructed on several high-profile matters.
Mark Wilden is a commercial barrister specialising in intellectual property and the media and entertainment industry as well. Mark acts in the High Court, IPEC, County Court and IPO and accepts instructions in all forms of intellectual property and related matters, including contract, technology and economic torts. Formerly of Carpmaels & Ransford LLP, Mark has acted for the likes of Apple, BBC, Tesco and Google.
