3PB Barrister Mark Green successful in landmark age discrimination case against the NHS
18th February 2019
3 Paper Buildings (3PB) Employment and Discrimination barrister Mark Green, instructed by Anna Illingworth of solicitors Rowberry Morris, successfully represented 88-year-old secretary Eileen Jolly in suing the NHS for age and disability discrimination after she was dismissed, despite the surgeon she worked for disagreeing with the decision, stating she was ‘meticulous and reliable'.
Mrs Jolly, who is believed to be the oldest person ever to sue an employer for age discrimination - after taking the hospital trust to the Reading Employment Tribunal - won her claim of unfair dismissal and all allegations of discrimination, although she will have to wait until October before her compensation is announced and awarded.
The case has been widely reported in the media, including a discussion with Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain and in The Times, The Telegraph, The Independent and the Daily Mail.
