3PB Barristers expands family services team

3PB Family has added 3 new barristers to its rapidly expanding specialist team.
Oliver Thorne (2005 call), formerly of King’s Bench Chambers, will be based in Bournemouth; while Kara Cann (2012 call) joins the family team in London from 1 Gray’s Inn Square. Oliver and Kara join recent family team recruit Matiss Krumins (2008 call) who joined the set’s Birmingham Chambers last month from Birmingham City Council.
Oliver Thorne was called to the Bar in 2005 and qualified as a solicitor in 2007. He obtained higher rights of audiences in all proceedings in 2009 before joining King’s Bench Chambers to practice at the Bar. He undertakes all types of family work including private children matters, public law cases, and ancillary relief. Oliver regularly acts in relation to all types of care proceedings including final hearing, adoption cases, ICOs, EPOs and section 38(6) applications. He is predominantly instructed to act for parents but also acts for on behalf of the Guardian.
Oliver said: “I wanted to join a Chambers that was growing, ambitious and committed to building an exceptional family team with the capacity to work across the UK. 3PB are a well-established national Chambers. I am looking forward to joining Hamish Dunlop and growing my practice alongside the other members of the ambitious family team at 3PB.”
Before joining the Bar, Kara Cann worked as a tax consultant with Deloitte, specialising in VAT and indirect taxes. Her role involved liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients across a range of industry sectors.
She has specialised in family law at 1 Gray’s Inn Square since 2014. Called to the Bar in 2012 Kara works across a range of financial and children proceedings in both the public and private arenas.
Kara said: “I am really excited to be joining 3PB’s great family team during a time when they are expanding and strengthening. I am looking forward to building my career here and to working with Sheena Cassidy in London and others.”
